la computers or le computers

A French teacher was explaining to her class that in French, unlike English, nouns are designated as either masculine or feminine. "House" is feminine -- "la maison." "Pencil" is masculine -- "le crayon."

A student asked, "What gender is 'computer'?" Instead of giving the answer, the teacher split the class into two groups -- male and female and asked them to decide for themselves whether "computer"should be a masculine or a feminine noun. Each group was asked to give four reasons for their recommendation.

The male group decided that "computer" should definitely be of the feminine gender ("la computer"), because:

1. No one but their creator understands their internal logic;
2. The native language they use to communicate with other computers is incomprehensible to everyone else;
3. Even the smallest mistakes are stored in long term memory for possible later retrieval; and
4. As soon as you make a commitment to one, you find yourself spending half your paycheck on accessories for it.

(... this gets better!!!)

The female group, however, concluded that computers should be masculine("le computer"), because:

1. In order to do anything with them, you have to turn them on;
2. They have a lot of data but still can't think for themselves;
3. They are supposed to help you solve problems, but half the time they ARE the problem; and
4. As soon as you commit to one, you realize that if you had waited a little longer, you could have gotten a better model!

The women won.

Traumatized

Today, as i was walking back home from college, a motorbike came from behind and tried to snatch my knapsack. FORTUNATELY, they didnt manage to do so..

Eventhough they didn't take my bag, they jerked it real hard and pulled my arm. Now, my neck hurts when it is at a certain angle.

I was at a state of shock that i didnt manage to do anything, didnt shout or like defend myself. I just stood there for a couple of seconds and then continued on walking. I was kinda scared that they would try to do it another time, so i walked faster towards home.

FREAKY MAN.....i guess thats the highlight of my day

Note to everyone: dont always think that it would not happen to you....BE SAFE and be AWARE of your surroundings!

Why do people watch Akademi Fantasia?

I was just flipping thru the channels and didnt have anything to watch so i just watch the Akademi Fantasia.

I find it real crap lar... they are so darn emotional.... someone leaves for the week...its like someone just died!!!

even that Aznil guy cries.... i think if a person who wasnt that emotional would also have to act all mushy so that its not that obvious....

As a contestant, arent you suppose to be happy that its not you that was eliminated? i know you are sad that your new-found friend is leaving, but he/she's not dead...... you'll still see him/her....its really funny to see everyone crying, the host, the judge, the contestants, the audience....everyone la....

I call it FAKE!!

Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus

Creative Writing Assignment

Here's a prime example of "Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus"offered by an English professor from the University of Phoenix:

The professor told his class one day:

"Today we will experiment with a new form called the tandem story. The process is simple. Each person will pair off with the person sitting to his or her immediate right. As homework tonight, one of you will write the first paragraph of a short story. You will e-mail your partner that paragraph and send another copy to me.The partner will read the first paragraph and then add another paragraph to the story and send it back, also sending another copy to me. The first person will then add a third paragraph, and so on back-and-forth.Remember to re-read what has been written each time in order to keep the story coherent. There is to be absolutely NO talking outside of the e-mails and anything you wish to say must be written in the e-mail. The story is over when both agree a conclusion has been reached."

The following was actually turned in by two of his English students: Rebecca and Gary.

THE STORY:

(first paragraph by Rebecca)

At first, Laurie couldn't decide which kind of tea she wanted. The chamomile, which used to be her favorite for lazy evenings at home, now reminded her too much of Carl, who once said, in happier times, that he liked chamomile. But she felt she must now, at all costs, keep her mind off Carl. His possessiveness was suffocating, and if she thought about him too much her asthma started acting up again. So chamomile was out of the question.

(second paragraph by Gary)

Meanwhile, Advance Sergeant Carl Harris, leader of the attack squadron now in orbit over Skylon 4, had more important things to think about than the neuroses of an air-headed asthmatic bimbo named Laurie with whom he had spent one sweaty night over a year ago. "A.S. Harris to Geostation 17," he said into his transgalactic communicator. "Polar orbit established. No sign of resistance so far..." But before he could sign off a bluish particle beam flashed out of nowhere and blasted a hole through his ship's cargo bay. The jolt from the direct hit sent him flying out of his seat and across the cockpit.

(Rebecca)

He bumped his head and died almost immediately, but not before he felt one last pang of regret for psychically brutalizing the one woman who had ever had feelings for him. Soon afterwards, Earth stopped its pointless hostilities towards the peaceful farmers of Skylon 4. "Congress Passes Law Permanently Abolishing War and Space Travel," Laurie read in her newspaper one morning. The news simultaneously excited her and bored her. She stared out the window, dreaming of her youth, when the days had passed unhurriedly and carefree, with no newspaper to read, no television to distract her from her sense of innocent wonder at all the beautiful things around her."Why must one lose one's innocence to become a woman?" she pondered wistfully.

(Gary)

Little did she know, but she had less than 10 seconds to live. Thousands of miles above the city, the Anu'udrian mothership launched the first of its lithium fusion missiles. The dim-witted wimpy peaceniks who pushed the Unilateral Aerospace disarmament Treaty through the congress had left Earth a defenseless target for the hostile alien empires who were determined to destroy the human race. Within two hours after the passage of the treaty the Anu'udrian ships were on course for Earth, carrying enough firepower to pulverize the entire planet. With no one to stop them, they swiftly initiated their diabolical plan. The lithium fusion missile entered the atmosphere unimpeded. The President, in his top-secret mobile submarine headquarters on the ocean floor off the coast of Guam, felt the inconceivably massive explosion, which vaporized poor, stupid, Laurie and 85 million other Americans. The President slammed his fist on the conference table. "We can't allow this! I'm going to veto that treaty! Let's blow 'em out of the sky!"

(Rebecca)

This is absurd. I refuse to continue this mockery of literature. My writing partner is a violent, chauvinistic semi-literate adolescent.

(Gary)
Yeah? Well, my writing partner is a self-centered tedious neurotic whose>>>>attempts at writing are the literary equivalent of Valium. "Oh, shall I have chamomile tea? Or shall I have some other sort of &$#@ TEA??? Oh no, what am I to do? I'm such an air headed bimbo who reads too many Danielle Steele novels!"

(Rebecca)

A--hole.

(Gary)

B-tch.

(Rebecca)

F__ YOU - YOU NEANDERTHAL!

(Gary)

Go drink some tea - Wh_re.

(TEACHER)

A+ - I really liked this one

My report for the day

Title: The post-syndrome of doing laboratory journals

Aims: - to know the effects of doing too much laboratory reports and journals

Methods: You will have to do at least 4 reports a week.

Results: After completing the experiment, i had become somewhat disorientated. I also discovered that i hate doing reports. It is time consuming, energy consuming. It takes away the time i have for fun.

Discussion:- This experiment was done under the pressure of handing it up the next day.
-This experiment showed that doing too much of lab reports will consume a
lot of energy and and time allocated for other more important things.
-Doing lab reports are lame and it makes me a lame person.

Conclusion: After conducting this experiment, It can be said that doing too much lab report can cause a person (me) to have no life.

SOMEONE SAVE ME FROM LAB REPORTS PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The hippies from Amazing Race...TTOW!!!!! Posted by Picasa

Thursday, May 18, 2006

Hippies ROCK!!! TTOW!!!!

Finally, after watching so many episodes of the Amazing Race and after all the excitement and anticipation, The Hippies won!!!!!!

To those who follow, you guys would understand what i'll be talking about:

Towards the end of the race, the Frat boys were in the lead. However the last task before the finish line was down to brains. Frat boys weren't that smart with flags of the country that they have been so the Hippies took the lead and ran to the finish line!!!! I was practically on my toes hoping that the hippies would win.....and finally they did!!!

Happy?? yeah.......but........something sad happened too.......

Elliot of the American Idol is OUT!!!!! i love him...he has such a wonderful voice. In my opinion, Elliot is so much better than Taylor(one of the finalist). Elliot has a voice that would melt your heart and has so much soul when he sings his songs!!!! When he sings, it makes my heart melt....Sigh...oh well, eventhough not winning this American Idol, i'm sure that he will be a great singer no matter what!!!! ELLIOT, I LOVE YOU!!!! Oh well, since you are not in the running anymore, i'm in for Katharine McPhee

Anyhow....my class for tomorrow has been cancelled (only have on class on Friday), so its YAHOO for me......but...yeah...there is a "but".....but i have so many things to do...i've got 6 lab journals to complete during the weekend! Isnt that crazy??? if you dont think so, please define crazy for me!!!!

so i guess i better start doing some work so that i dont have to torture myself on Sunday trying to finish work the "last minute" style!! ;P

Have a pleasant weekend!!!

...

Although classes has already started, but i still feel so lazy. Feel crappy infact.

I just feel that these few weeks, there has been nothing to be happy or excited about. Life is boring. I may seem happy and all, but at the end of the day, i just feel "bleh"... i don't know why i'm like this... i just hope things get better!!!

My sister have been having friends coming in and out of the house. Last week, her japanese friends and now friends from labuan and miri.

Today, we went to One Utama to watch Poseidon and to hang out. The movie was quite good, but very predictable, you know who will die. After the show, my sister and her friends had a tiny reunion in Starbucks and i went around One Utama on my own. Manage to buy a shoe in Vincci that i have been eyeing for, and since it was on sale, better get it.

Anyway, i think thats is about the most exciting thing that happened to me in the pass couple of weeks. i totally feel like SHIT!

and oh ya!!!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!

I LOVE YOU, MA....you are the world to me!!! I miss you dearly!!!!

and to my sister who is also a mother!!! Jia wen loves you very very much!!! How much??? SOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!

and to all the other mothers out there, your daughters are proud of you!!!

Home SWEET Home

Hello everyone, i'm now in Labuan, the place i grew up in.

Arrived here one Wednesday and got quite a few things done. Got my IC done (change the religion on my IC from Sikhism to Baha'i). Did blood test and also went to the dentist to get my teeth checked.

Tomorrow will be going for a picnic and hopefully at night would be able to go out with couple of my friends! I missed them dearly!!!! Most probably with Carmen, Rastwin, Hsei Di, and if i can find others then better.

My sis and her little precious flew in yesterday and the house has been full of Jia Wen.."Gong Gong, where are you?" " Ah Ma, What are you doing?"...etc... She knows how to manja her grandparents lar..

Well, nothing has changed much in labuan. Its like i never left. Its nice to be home although the weather here is so hot!!!

Anyway...will be going back to KL on tuesday and will have another week to kill. So anyone who wants to go out..please call and i'll be more than happy to go hang with you guys! Just HOLLER!!!!!!

Shopping!!!!

Today i went to Jusco Seremban after me and my sis dropped Jia Wen off to school.

Bought myself a wallet (my current wallet is already coming apart). Got it from a shop called Momoe.

Then i bought a skirt from F.O.S. 2 for RM 23.90, so means one skirt is about Rm 12? wanted to get a shorts and a skirt, but the price was different....so i end up buying 2 of the same skirt, so i've got one skirt to give away.......anyone want?? eheheheh.....

Wanted to get myself a pair of sandals but couldnt find any nice ones. they were either too old for me or just plain yucky....

Spent about RM 50 bucks today....hehehehe..... (Mum, if you are reading this...hehehehehhe...dont scold ya)

anyway..i'll be going back to Labuan on Wednesday and i cant wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IT'S OVER!!!!

and I'm on my very short 2 weeks holiday!

I can't believe it is over....never in my life that i have been so relieved that an exam is all over...I was even on the edge of tearing...After my last paper, Chemistry, the sigh of relief from everyone in my class was just overwhelming. I guess this semester was really stressful. My classmate just started shouting here and there cuz we were just too happy...

Right after the exam ( 7.00pm), we headed towards Klang for seafood again... All 10 of us cramp into Xin Me's Estima. It was a fun ride there but everyone was so tired. Thinking that we would have a total blast....everyone was too tired, no appetite!!! After dinner, Bee Suan brought us for Mamak again... hahah...well...even though we were all tired, it was still fun..

Reached home only at about 2.30am and totally needed some rest cuz my sis told me that we were leaving the house at 8.30 in the morning... didnt really sleep well, i guess i was just too tired.

Today i was out the whole day!!! One Utama the whole day, walked and walked until my leg also wanna come off already!!!! After that, went to Jacqui's place to rest awhile and then headed to dinner again... Dinner at the steak house was GOOD!! Yummy food and i ate until there was no more room left to fit even a single thing...even now, as i am typing this....i'm still so full and so so so so so so so so SLEEPY!!!!!

I think i better stop now and go to bed...i'll write more about my exams later...or maybe not, since it is already over right??:P

toodles!!!muahs!

The day that i have been dreading!!

or should it be the week that i have been dreading??

EXAM WEEK!!!

Today was the first paper, MCB 122: Molecular and Cell Biology 2

How was it??

HMmMMMMmm.... I manage to answer everything i'm suppose to answer, i'm just afraid that what i answered would not be accepted by my lecturer!!! Just hope and pray that she does!!! Her questions were not very "balanced"... Her structured questions looked like essay questions!!! Which was really irritating... Usually for structured questions, marks for sub-questions are usually in the range of 1-5 marks. But hers was 6-10 marks!(there were a few that had 1-4 marks), but it was crazy!!!!!!

I really dont know how am i going to face another of her paper on Friday!!! BIO 119: Biology of Organisms

I better get back to studying my BTE 100: Introduction to Biotechnology.

Mission: Wednesday's paper: BTE 100: Introduction to Biotechnology
MAT 131: Mathematics and Statistics

PRAY FOR ME!!!!

ONE DOWN, 4 MORE TO GO!!!!
