Malaysian Dreamgirl

I've been following Malaysian Dreamgirl ever since i heard about it, and that is before the episodes started. I'm all the way here in the UK and I am happy that this show is over the internet, so meaning i can watch it anytime I want!!!

It is nice to hear Malaysia has their own search for models, knowing that how "conservative" Malaysians are. Dressed in hot pants and bikini tops on a Malaysian show is something very new and fresh!

However, I'm not very impressed with some of the girls. I know I'm nobody in this industry or i know nothing about this kinda thing..but i just feel that Malaysia can offer much more. I know there can be more model-ish girls out there! where art thou, oh model-ish one??? :P

I know I totally should not compare with America's next top model, but i just can't help myself! Girls in ANTM are not all good looking but really have a look that make you take a second look... some of the girls in Malaysian dreamgirl are just pretty, and i feel that you can't really go that far with just pretty in this industry! as they like to say...too commercial?? hahahaha....

But there is one thing i'm impressed is at that the girls are better at walking than some of the girls in ANTM!!!!! some girls on ANTM just CANNOT catwalk!!!! OH DEAR..... its hilarious sometimes to see them walk... so that's one thing that i really think Malaysians can do better....

Anyway, i really hope to see how these girls will play out in this competition! so far i have no favourites yet, but i'm sure i'll have a girl that i want to win !!!!

Work it babes!! Do malaysia proud!

Before the fast

Before the fast begins, few days are allocated as Intercalary Days, or better known as Ayyam-i-Ha for the Baha'is. Baha'is celebrate the festival of Ayyam-i-Ha each year from sunset on Feb. 25 to sunset of March 1 as a preparation for the Fast. During Ayyam-i-Ha, members of the Faith perform acts of charity, give gifts to friends and family, and attend social gatherings.

So for social gatherings, I went to Durham on Friday to meet up with the Baha'is around the area for Chinese Buffet!!! THere was about 20+ people and it was so much of fun... more than half of them were youth which made it than much more fun!! Dinner was quick but the food was so much that i practically force feed myself!!! hahahaha....

After dinner, the youth decided to go play bowling since the night was still young. So 10 of us headed to the bowling alley for some bowling fun! I haven't bowled in a long time so bowling into the gutter was way expected. however i had a strike and a spare to cover for that!! ahaahahah

Done with one game, a few of them wanted to play with the arcade games in the bowling alley so it was fun seeing some of them on the dancing machine jumping away!!!

It was too late when it was time to go home, so i stayed over at Amy's place for the night and only went home the next day!!! I really had fun and hope to meet up with them soon ...

sorry no pics...was too busy having FUN! which i kinda regretted not taking when i came home!

Happy Fasting!!

Today, the Baha'i Fast starts and will go on for 19 days and at the end of it, it is Naw-Ruz, when all Bahai's look forward as it marks the new year for the Baha'is!!

Here's a little something about the fasting period;

As has been the case with other revealed religions, the Bahá'í Faith
sees great value in the practice of fasting as a discipline for the soul .
Bahá'u'lláh designated a nineteen-day period each year when adult Bahá'ís fast
from sunrise to sunset each day. This period coincides with the Bahá'í month of
Ala (meaning Loftiness), from March 2 to 20, inclusive. This is the month
immediately preceding the Bahá'í new year, which occurs the day of the vernal
equinox; and the period of fasting is therefore viewed as a time of spiritual
preparation and regeneration for a new year's activities. Women who are nursing
or pregnant, the aged, the sick, the traveler, those engaged in heavy labor, as
well as children under the age of fifteen, are exempt from observance of the
Fast.

"The fasting period, which lasts nineteen days starting as a rule from
the second of March every year and ending on the twentieth of the same month,
involves complete abstention from food and drink from sunrise till sunset. It is
essentially a period of meditation and prayer, of spiritual recuperation, during
which the believer must strive to make the necessary readjustments in his inner
life, and to refresh and reinvigorate the spiritual forces latent in his soul.
Its significance and purpose are, therefore, fundamentally spiritual in
character. Fasting is symbolic, and a reminder of abstinence from selfish and
carnal desires."

Fasting is the cause of awakening man. The heart becomes tender and the
spirituality of man increases. This is produced by the fact that man's thoughts
will be confined to the commemoration of God, and through this awakening and
stimulation surely ideal advancements follow... Fasting is of two kinds,
material and spiritual. The material fasting is abstaining from food or drink,
that is, from the appetites of the body. But spiritual, ideal fasting is this,
that man abstain from selfish passions, from negligence and from satanic animal
traits. Therefore, material fasting is a token of the spiritual fasting. That
is: `O God! As I am fasting from the appetites of the body and not occupied with
eating and drinking, even so purify and make holy my heart and my life from
aught else save Thy Love, and protect and preserve my soul from self-passions...
Thus may the spirit associate with the Fragrances of Holiness and fast from
everything else save Thy mention.'

SO TO ALL BAHA'IS OUT THERE, HAPPY
FASTING AND MAY THIS FASTING PERIOD BE A TIME FOR REFLECTION, DEEPENING OF
THE SOUL!
