Busy people

The crowd in A&W!!! We were really celebrating!! Singing and the loudness was overwhelming!

WoW!

Sitting 2 test in 2 days is no fun at all.... after sitting the first one on the first day, you get so sien already and you don't have the mood to study for the next test the next day....That is what i felt yesterday while studying for the second test.....

All in all, i'm glad that its over...not totally over though....I still have another quiz on friday, next tuesday and a test on thursday!! and handing in assignments and lab journals all in between....tiring aint it???

There is less than 3 weeks to my finals, and am i prepared?? Totally not!! I really need some rest first before gearing up to study for the finals!! I really need it!

Enough talking about studies!!!

On another totally different subject, yesterday i heard from a friend that another friend's brother just died in a car accident yesterday morning. He's only around 27, i think.. so young and it was such a shock! When i heard about it, I was really speechless. Although i dont personally know my friends brother, but i knew who he was, since he's dad and my dad are workmates.

It really makes me think that, things just happened unexpectedly, comes to shock you. You'll never know what is going to happen until it does. Scary huh? but thats the fact of life, even if you and me do not want to except it.....I guess all of us wanna live in a "This kinda thing won't happen to me" world....I know i am....

My heartfelt condolences to my friend and her family. Hugs... May he be closer to God and watch over all of you!!

Celebrate! Something about the Baha'i New Year

Baha'i Naw-Ruz

In the Badi` calendar of the Bab, Naw-Ruz is the day of Baha of the month of Baha, a day called by the Bab `the Day of God' (yawmu'llah). It was also the `Day of the Point' (yawm-i-nuqt3ih) -- i.e. the day of the Bab. Finally, it was a day associated with Him Whom God shall make manifest, the Promised One of the Bab. The remaining eighteen days of the month were associated with the eighteen Letters of the Living, an indication that the Bab envisioned the Naw-Ruz festivities encompassing the nineteen days of the month of Baha, just as the traditional Iranian Naw-Ruz festivities last thirteen days. During Naw-Ruz the Bab permitted the use of musical instruments and other luxuries prohibited at other times. During the night of Naw-Ruz each believer was to recite 361 times the verse `God beareth witness that there is no God but Him, the Ineffable, the Self-Subsistent'; and during the day, `God beareth witness that there is no God but Him, the Precious, the Beloved'. Fasting was prohibited during the whole month of Baha. During the six years of His mission, the Bab and His followers observed Naw-Ruz, although it is difficult to say how much this represents a distinctively Babi holy day. Baha'u'llah adopted the Babi holy day of Naw-Ruz as the feast day following the fast and stressed that it is associated with the Most Great Name, bearing as it does Baha'u'llah's own name. `Abdu'l-Baha explained the significance of Naw-Ruz in terms of the symbolism of the new life of spring. Baha'u'llah defines Naw-Ruz as the Baha'i day on which the vernal equinox occurs.

Thus, even if the equinox should occur just before sunset, that day -- which in the Baha'i calendar began at the moment of sunset on the previous day -- is Naw-Ruz. At present, however, Naw-Ruz is fixed as 21 March for Baha'is in all countries outside the Middle East, regardless of exactly when the equinox occurs.

Naw-Ruz is one of the nine Baha'i holy days on which work is to be suspended. It is generally observed with a meeting for prayer and celebration -- often combined with a dinner since the sunset on which Naw-Ruz begins ends the last day of the Baha'i fast. As with all Baha'i holy days, there are few fixed rules for observing Naw-Ruz, although Iranian Baha'is often follow Iranian traditions. Many Baha'is use Naw-Ruz as a day of gift-giving. Baha'is do not usually observe Naw-Ruz for longer than one day. Since Naw-Ruz is the first day of a Baha'i month, it is also the day of a nineteen day feast. It is not permitted to combine this feast with the observance of the holy day.

A little breather.....but confused

The week has been a crazy one, each day is a dateline with things to hand in. So, now i'm just chilling for a while, before i go on with the madness again...

besides all the madness going on in college, I'm now in the stage where i have to make up my mind on what to do after INTI...actually i had already made up my mind on studying Pharmacology in UK but then after seeking advice from people, they said if i want to study pharmacology, its a risk that i have to take because job prospect here in malaysia is not that good for such a course. If i still want to take that course, i have to think about staying on in UK... Its not that i'm not open about staying back in the UK, its just that it is a risk taking that course, being that if i come back here....I'm not wanted.... is the risk worth taking?

Some others say that do whatever you feel like doing, its a just a stepping stone to whatever comes. Sigh.....

The other option is to study something else which would have a better job prospect here in malaysia...... I'm cOnFusEd....

sigh......

As i look around, i see changes in people,
and it makes me wonder,
Have i changed with time too??

Being A Baha'i

"Be generous in prosperity, and thankful in adversity.
Be worthy of the trust of thy neighbor, and look upon him with a bright and friendly face.
Be a treasure to the poor, an admonisher to the rich, an answerer to the cry of the needy, a preserver of the sanctity of thy pledge.
Be fair in thy judgment, and guarded in thy speech.
Be unjust to no man, and show all meekness to all men.
Be as a lamp unto them that walk in darkness, a joy to the sorrowful, a sea for the thirsty, a haven for the distressed, an upholder and defender of the victim of oppression.
Let integrity and uprightness distinguish all thine acts.
Be a home for the stranger, a balm to the suffering, a tower of strength for the fugitive.
Be eyes to the blind, and a guiding light unto the feet of the erring.
Be an ornament to the countenance of truth, a crown to the brow of fidelity, a pillar of the temple of righteousness, a breath of life to the body of mankind, an ensign of the hosts of justice, a luminary above the horizon of virtue, a dew to the soil of the human heart, an ark on the ocean of knowledge, a sun in the heaven of bounty, a gem on the diadem of wisdom, a shining light in the firmament of thy generation, a fruit upon the tree of humility."

13 years old?

Just read the e-newpaper, and really shocked with one of the news....

13-year-olds got married!!! How can anyone agree to that? I guess obviously that their parents did not have any objections la....

Recalling back when i was 13, i was still a kid and i was so childish that even having a boyfriend was not on my mind....what more getting married? When i was 13, my friends and I were still drolling over cute boy-band singers...and were still so young that we were still watching cartoons!!

Even now, as i'm turning 22 this year, i can't picture myself getting hitched!!

sigh.....at the age of 13, are we mature enough to make such a big decision that would change our lives forever?? even if we are not, i guess nowadays, anyone can resort to this thing called DIVORCE, which is just so common!

So, let's all get married, whether we are ready or not!

Prayer for Those Fasting

Praise be to Thee, O Lord my God! I beseech Thee by this Revelation whereby darkness hath been turned into light, through which the Frequented Fane hath been built, and the Written Tabled revealed, and the Outspread Roll uncovered, to send down upon me and upon them who are in my company that which will enable us to soar into the heavens of Thy transcendent glory, and will wash us from the stain of such doubts as have hindered the suspicious from entering into the tabernacle of Thy unity.

I am the one, O my Lord, who hath held fast the cord of Thy loving-kindness, and clung to the hem of Thy mercy and favors. Do Thou ordain for me and for my loved ones the good of this world and of the world to come. Supply them, then, with the Hidden Gift Thou didst ordain for the choicest among Thy creatures.

These are, O my Lord, the days in which Thou hast bidden Thy servants to observe the fast. Blessed is he that observeth the fast wholly for Thy sake and with absolute detachment from all things except Thee. Assist me and assist them, O my Lord, to obey Thee and to keep Thy precepts. Thou, verily, hast power to do what Thou choosest.

There is no God but Thee, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise. All praise be to God, the Lord of all worlds.

At my Uncle's place

Goh Family at my Ah Chek's place

I'm BACK PEOPLE!!!

After the very short chinese new year break, i was back in college and it was definitely a hectic one....

I had 1 test and 2 quizzes this week itself and tonnes of journals to pass up! Its really stressful and i just can't wait for the semester to end!

Comparing this semester to the others, its really hard.....The subjects are tougher, the workload is heavier, the time is getting shorter...

I remember in my second semester, my class and I complained about how heavy our work load was because we were taking 5 subjects(3 bio subjects, 1 Chemistry and 1 Maths). However, i'd rather go back to that than sitting in this semester! We have now 3 year 2 subjects which are very tough and one LAN subject(time waster). The Lab journals now are so much tougher to do and requires a lot of time and effort. I feel that most of my time is spent on my lab journals that i really dont have time for studying....and that is why i end up studying last minute. I don't think this is just happening to me. All my classmates also feel the same way that our lab journals are taking too much of our time. Its not that i don't like doing experiments, its just that doing all the reports and discussion is really time-consuming.

I'm glad that the weekend is here and i can have a little rest, although i still got work to do! I can't wait for Kyle and Kaelyn's birthday on Saturday and also Chap Goh Meh high tea at my cousin Ann's house on Sunday!!!

But before that: THINGS TO FINISH UP

Genetics Lab Journal 4
Genetics Lab Journal 5
Microbiology Lab Journal 14

i think i have more things to do, but lets just take it slow and easy.....if i can do more....its great!

And oh ya, today was my first day of fasting!! One day down, 18 days left!

To all the Baha'is out there,

"Fasting is the cause of awakening man. The heart becomes tender and the spirituality of man increases. This is produced by the fact that man's thoughts will be confined to the commemoration of God, and through this awakening and stimulation surely ideal advancements follow."

Happy Fasting!!!
